Foreign Minister S Jaisankar on Sunday said the relationship between India and China was experiencing a “very difficult phase” when he talked about the deadlock of Galwan Valley and “neglect” of Beijing for the border pact. Jaishankar said the problem had not been resolved and it had clearly overshadowed.

He made a statement while attending an event organized by the Indian community in Sao Paulo from Brazil during his first visit of three countries. He will also visit Paraguay and Argentina.

We have an agreement with China which will return to the 1990s which forbade carrying mass troops in the border area. They have ignored it. You know what is happening in the Galwan Valley. The problem has not been resolved and it has clearly shaded, “Ani News Agency quoted the Minister.

Jaishankar also said a relationship could not be a one -way path and mutual respect must exist to maintain it. “They are our neighbors. Everyone wants to hang out with their neighbors. In personal and village life too. But everyone wants to get along with reasonable requirements. I must respect you. You must respect me.”

So from our point of view, we are very clear that we have to build relationships and there must be mutual respect. Each of them will have their interests and we must be sensitive to what is the concern of others so that relationships are built, “he said.

Relationship is a two -way path. A lasting relationship cannot be a way one -way. We need mutual respect and reciprocity sensitivity. At this time we are not a secret we will go through a very difficult phase,” added Jaishankar.

The relationship between India and China worsened after the deadlock in April-May 2020 for violations by the Chinese Army in several areas including the Jari area, the Galwan Valley, Hot Springs, and Kongrung Nala. The situation worsened after a clash of violence with Chinese troops in the Galwan Valley in June.
