Japanese say final goodbye to former PM Shinzo Abe at funeral

Japan on Tuesday said goodbye to Shinzo Abe, a high -rise figure who dominated Japan’s politics for decades as the longest prime minister in the country, before being shot dead at the general meeting of the campaign last week. Thousands of people gathered outside the Tokyo Zojoji Temple as a private cemetery were held inside. Then, the car’s procession carrying a corpse to the funeral home left the Buddhist temple, according to the local media report.

Abe was shot dead while speaking in an election campaign in the city of West Japan Nara on Friday. Public shooting has attracted criticism from leaders around the world. Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Abe a friend and announced mourning a day as a sign of respect.

The alleged killer was arrested at the scene and was identified by the police as 41 -year -old Tetsuya Yamagami. Media reports say that Yamagami is a former military member. He believes that Abe has promoted religious groups that are “big donations”, reported Kyodo News Agency, quoting investigators. The Unification Church, known for its mass marriage and followers, said that on Monday the suspect’s mother was one of its members.

Reacting to Taiwan Vice President who attended the funeral of Shinzo Abe, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the Chinese Embassy in Japan had filed a strong representative.
