SC issues notice to UP govt on Ashish Mishra’s bail plea
An earthquake of 4.8 struck near the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan on Tuesday, said the European-Mediterian Seismological Center (EMSC).
Experienced diplomat Sanjay Kumar Verma on Tuesday was appointed as the next Indian High Commissioner to Canada, while Amit Kumar, currently the Indian Consulate General in Chicago, was named the next ambassador to the Republic of Korea.
Verma, an IFS 1988 officer and currently the Indian Ambassador to Japan, is expected to immediately take the task, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
Among other posts, Verma has served on Indian missions in Hong Kong, China, Vietnam and Turkey. He also served as the Indian Consul General in Milan, Italy.
Delhi Police Special Cell arrested two Afghan nationals and seized 312.5 kgs of Methamphetamine drug and 10 kgs of heroin from their possession. The total seized drug is worth more than Rs 1200 crores in International Market.

Assam Police on Tuesday said local residents in Darogar Alga, a river village in the West Assam goal district, destroyed a Madrasawhere two Bangladesh citizen working as a previous teacher. The two Bangladesh citizens are now fled and sought by the Assam Police because they are members of the Ansarullah Bangla (ABT) team, a terrorist group that is prohibited and al-Qaeda affiliation in the Indian subcontinent (AQIS).
The police said Jalauddin Sheikh, who was just arrested because of his alleged involvement with ABT, revealed that he had appointed two Bangladesh citizens in Madrasa as teachers.
Three madrasas were previously destroyed by administration in the Moroga, Barpeta and Bongaiga districts in August. But the police on Tuesday said the fourth Madrasa in Goalpara was destroyed by local residents.
