UK Says Fighting Continues In Severodonetsk, Russia Ramps Up Efforts To Move Towards Izium
When the Russian invasion of Ukraine entered the 106th day, the British Ministry of Defense issued a daily intelligence renewal about the situation in a country that was hit by war. The ministry said that the battle between Russian troops and Ukraine continued in Severodonetsk. In addition, the Russian Eastern Forces group might have increased their efforts to move towards the southern Izium.
According to the British Ministry of Defense, Russian troops are likely to try to regain momentum to put pressure on Severodonetsk and try to advance deeper in Donetsk. The British Ministry of Defense noted that Russia’s progress in the Izium axis remained stopped since April after Ukraine forces began to use Medan to slow down the progress of Russian troops. The ministry has claimed Russia is likely to have tried to “rearrange EGF after they suffered a very severe victim in a failed progress in Kyiv” and noted that the Russian troop units continue to be lower.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Severodonetsk remains the center of battle in Donbass. In his late speech on June 8, Zelenskyy said that the battle in Severodonetsk was the battle “One of the most difficult” that was seen so far and called it “very fierce battle.” He thanked Polish President Andrzej Duda for his visit to European countries to support the offer of the Ukraine European Union.
A Ukraine official said that the battle continued in Severodonetsk and Ukraine forces would not leave the city. Luhanansk Regional Governor Serhiy Haidai told the Associated Press that Russian troops had become artillery, mortar, tanks and flights in Severodonetsk to “wipe the city from the face of the earth and captured it fully.” He claimed that the shooting continued in Severodonetsk.
