The Ultimate List of Every Shonda Rhimes Show & Movie Coming to Netflix Soon.

Shonda Rhimes has inked two ground-breaking partnerships with Netflix to develop shows, films, interactive experiences, and documentaries across a wide range of genres. Here’s everything Shonda Rhimes and her production firm Shondaland will be releasing on Netflix shortly. The prolific creator, best known for Grey’s Anatomy and How To Get Away With Murder, was primarily planted at ABC for the previous decade or so until moving to Netflix in 2018 (the same year Netflix made a deal with Ryan Murphy) for an estimated $150 million. In July 2021, the contract was extended.

Rhimes is one of the hundreds of creators with whom Netflix has an overall and first-look contract. Shonda Rhimes’ projects were initially revealed in July 2018, however, the first one would not be released until November 2020. Here are all of the Shondaland productions that have been exclusively released on Netflix as part of the output arrangement thus far:

Dance Dreams: The Nutcracker in Hot Chocolate – November 27th, 2020

December 25th, 2020 – Bridgerton

Other titles in Rhime’s back catalog are available in many Netflix territories. The Shondaland collection may be found on Netflix by searching for Shonda in the search box or by using the app. How to Get Away with Murder is presently available in most locations, while Grey’s Anatomy is available on Netflix in the United States.

Inventing Anna

  • Type: Limited Series
  • The 11th of February, 2022, will be the release date on Netflix.

Inventing Anna, starring Julia Garner, who rose to prominence after appearing in Netflix’s Ozark series with Jason Bateman, is set to premiere in 2021.

The drama series is based on the actual story of a thief who utilized Instagram’s capacity to penetrate New York’s greatest social scenes while also taking their money. Jessica Pressler is penning the scripts for the show, while David Frankel and Tom Verica have been tapped to helm the first several episodes. Anna Chlumsky, Laverne Cox, and Alexis Floyd have all been confirmed as part of the cast.

Bridgerton (Seasons 2-4)

  • Season 2 will be released on Netflix on March 25th.

Shonda Rhimes’ first written series for Netflix was a tremendous sensation, and it now holds the title of most-watched Netflix series, with 82 million viewers watching season 1 alone (of announced Netflix statistics anyway). Julie Andrews, who will portray Lady Whistledown, is among the series’ stellar ensemble, which also includes Adjoa Andoh, Jonathan Bailey, Sabrina Bartlett, Nicola Coughlan, Ruth Gemmell, and Claudia Jessie. It seemed inevitable that a second season would be produced. What was unexpected (and practically unheard of for Netflix) was that it was renewed for a fourth season.

Untitled Queen Charlotte Bridgerton Spinoff

With Bridgerton appearing to be such a tremendous sensation, it was only a matter of time until a spin-off was revealed in May 2021, with Queen Charlotte getting her own expanded series. The series will follow the Queen’s ascent to power, which was significantly featured in season 1, which reminded the clock to her adolescence. Shonda Rhimes will serve as executive producer and writer on this spinoff, which will also be produced by Betsy Beers and Tom Verica.

Sunshine Scouts

Sunshine Scouts, a TV series directed by Jill. E. Alexander will be the first comedy title released by Shondaland.

Netflix’s official description is as follows:

Apocalyptic tragedy spares a ragtag bunch of adolescent girls at sleepaway camp, who must then summon their moxie and survival skills to weather the consequences and guarantee that the Sunshine Scout Law is followed by all that remains of mankind. Jill E. Alexander, who is most known for her role on HBO’s Silicon Valley, is both a writer and the series’ creator. There have been no updates since the title was announced in 2018.

The Warmth of Other Suns

This Tv series will adapt Isabel Wilkerson’s novel about African Americans escaping the South in search of a better life. The adaptation is being handled by Anna Deavere Smith. There have been no changes to the title since it was introduced in 2018.

Pico & Sepulveda

The conflict in the 1840s in the then-Mexican state of California will be the subject of a TV drama. Janet Leahy, best known for her work on AMC’s Mad Men, has joined the writing team. The performance is named after Freddy Martin’s song from 1947. There have been no updates since the title was introduced in 2018.

The Residence

When The Residence is launched, it will most likely fill the void left by the departure of Scandal from Netflix. The political series is based on Kate Anderson Brower’s novel. The series will chronicle the stories of the people who work behind the scenes to keep the White House functioning smoothly. From the Kennedys through the Obamas, the book covered various administrations. There have been no updates since the title was introduced in 2018.
