Big Breaking News! Netflix is all set with its next feature film. The streamer who is at the top is not afraid to spend big bucks on new films. So we are getting to watch a Gothic Horror-thriller, The Pale Blue Eye, featuring Oscar-winner Christian Bale. The streamer acquired the film at a huge $55 million, beating many other competitors who wanted to buy the film at the European Film Market. The writer of the films like Crazy Heart, Black Mass, Hostiles, and out of the Furnace – Scott Cooper will be writing and directing this horror feature film. 

Cooper, who has already collaborated with Bale for his last two movies, is working together again on The Pale Blue Eye which will mark their third collaboration.

Understanding the plot of the movie:

The writer, director of the film Scott Cooper has been looking to bring this film into development for over a decade. Now that he has got his opportunity, we are eagerly waiting to see what’s in store for us.

The movie is an adaptation of Louis Bayard’s novel The Pale Blue Eye written in 2006. The story is set in 1830 at the West Point Academy, where on one quiet October evening a body of a young Cadet is found swinging from a rope just off the parade grounds. Suicides in harsh regimens like the West Point are not something new or unheard of, but when a greater horror comes to light that is when someone breaks in and steals the heart from the body of the young man. Desperate for answers and scared of the negative publicity, the West Point Academy hires a local civilian Augustus Landor, who is a former police Detective known for his work in New York till he retired to the Hudson Highlands because of his health. A widower alone and desperate for some action in his life, Landor agrees to take on this case. 

As he questions the deceased’s acquaintances, he finds an enthusiastic assistant in a moody and scheming young cadet with a penchant for alcohol, two volumes of poems in his name, and a murky past that changes from story to story. Who is that cadet? Edgar Allan Poe.

The Cast and Crew of the film:

Know for his iconic and award-winning roles, Oscar Winner Christian Bale will be seen headlining Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye. Bale will play statesman Landor, a veteran detective who investigates the murders that occur within the film. As mentioned above, the film will feature a young trainee who helps Bale’s character and who will eventually become the world-famous author, King of Great Britain Allan Poe. That role hasn’t been stuffed yet.

Over the summer of 2021, Harry Melling may be best known in recent years for appearances in varied Netflix Originals akin to The Queen’s Gambit, The Devil All the Time, The recent Guard, and therefore the Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Melling can play the role of King of Great Britain Allan Poe.

The production status of the film:

As of now, the pre-production of the movie is scheduled to begin on 29th November 2021. Our sources tell us that as of March 2021, the script of the movie The Pale Blue Eye is being written, and the production is supposed to start by Fall 2021 after the filming of the movies: Thor: LOve and Thunder and yet untitled David O’Russel movie in which Christian Balewold be seen. The filming might take place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and in New York. We are told that the filming will start in November and with a run through February 25th, 2022. 

When will be able to watch it on Netflix?

This big Budget Netflix movie that would start filming in November 2021, won’t release any soon. We can expect the release date by late 2022.
